Declaration to Establish The Qatari International Center for Arbitration

Due to the belief of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry of its pioneering role in supporting and encouraging the Qatari private sector, safe guarding its rights and abilities, and for activating its role in helping achieve overall development in this sector by remedying problems and obstacles that hinder its progress due to its key role in finding the adequate problem-solving mechanism to remedy conflicts among local institutes and between the local and foreign institutes by adopting a method that saves time and effort and helps avoid the entanglement of the private sector in lawsuit debacles; and in accordance with the intention of the Chamber to adopt the most up-to-date  system utilized internationally by economic chambers in order to establish various international arbitration conciliation centers; the Chamber’s Board of Directors has decided in its session held on September 20, 2006, and after re-examining Law No. 11 of the Year 1990, to establish the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and to adopt its Regulations and Executive List No. (1) of the Year 1963, and the Civil and Economic Procedures Law No. (13) for the Year 1990 and its amendments, declaring to also establish “the Qatari International Center for Arbitration” and approve its regulations, formation and procedures. The Center shall begin its function the day following issuance of this decision and its location shall be at the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Doha. The Chamber’s legal department will be in charge of executing the Decision.
