The Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (QCCI) hosted yesterday evening, the first symposium on the rules of origin under the Great Arab Free Trade Area.

The symposium was attended by Mr. Mansour Hamid Al Nuaimi Chief of Foreign Trade department at the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Mr. Jamal Al Muraikhi Head of the Industrial Registers unit at the Ministry of Energy and Industry and Mr. Zayed Mubarak Al Khayarin Head of Origins unit at the General Authority for Customs and Ports . Also the symposium witnessed notable attending by representatives of national industrial companies.

Mr. Hussein Yousuf Abdul Ghani the Director of Members Affairs Dept. opened  the symposium with  a welcome speech stressing the importance of the topic of the symposium as one of the main pillars of the Great Arab Free Trade Area and referred to the Arab Economic and Social Council resolution regarding the application of the New Model of the Arab Certificate of Origin and the instruction of the QCCI Board of Directors to coordinate with official bodies to put the mechanism of applying the new form

For his part Mr. Ihab Mohamed Rashad Certificates of Origin in charge at the Chamber addressed the meeting where he spoke about the Great Arab Free Trade Area since its inception, rules of origin and detailed procedures for the application of the new model of the Arab Certificate of Origin.
